Josef Seitz works since more than 20 years as international expert in the field of climate change and sustainable development. He studied scientific chemistry at the Universities of Regensburg and Freiburg in Germany, and holds a master of engineering from the Technical College in Cologne, Germany, with a special focus on international cooperation.
He joined German Development Cooperation (GTZ) in 1996 as environmental expert and advisor to the Ministry of Environment of Morocco where he was in charge of environmental policy and private sector cooperation until 2000. From 2000 until 2004, he worked for GTZ in Argentina as Sustainable Development Expert, Program Manager and Team Leader of the Program for Urban Industrial Environment advising environmental authorities on policy issues and providing consultancy for industrial associations and enterprises.
In 2006, Josef founded Global21 Consulting, a consulting company based nearby Toulouse in France. Since then, he provides advisory services on interfaces between environment, climate change, economy and development. Josef started extending his professional activities to Cuba in 2011. In 2017, he launched the initiative Cuba21.net.
